Action Agenda Coordinator position now open

Sustainable Seattle, as part of a joint partnership with Communities Count is hiring an Action Agenda Coordinator.
Position Role and Responsibilities:  The Action Agenda Coordinator is a full-time position housed at Sustainable Seattle to promote the use of Communities Count indicators in regional decision making and the development of an Action Agenda. The Action Agenda Coordinator will be supervised by the Sustainable Seattle Executive Director. His or her work will be directed by the Communities Count Steering Committee. Specifically, the Action Agenda Coordinator will:

·      Develop on-going relationships in the community that advance the mission and goals of Communities Count;

·      Promote Communities Count to the community through presentation,  workshops, organize community events, and other communication means;

·      Promote the use of indicators as decision-making tools with appropriate stakeholders and advocacy groups;

·      Develop and promote an action agenda for Communities Count areas of focus;

·      Research and identify  best and promising practices to support the development of action steps for Communities Count indicators;

·      Support regionally-based action plans;

·      Recommend and promote action initiatives to address downward-trending indicators or where no initiative exists.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

·      A graduate degree in science, public health, public affairs, urban planning or social science and a minimum of four years of experience working in a multidisciplinary or multisectoral environment.  Additional related experience can substitute for the advanced degree. 

·      Experience planning community events and working with multi-cultural volunteers, community members, civic organizations and advocacy groups. 

·      Proven writing and public presentation skills in a range of formats to respond to the expectations and preferences of a broad range of constituents - from elected leaders to community residents and youth. 

·      Fluency with Microsoft Office programs and comfort with technology. 

·      Demonstrated skill in developing relationships and collaborating with agency/community groups to assess areas of interest and to develop and implement actions.

·      Flexibility, a sense of humor, the ability to travel to meetings throughout King County and to attend occasional evening meetings and a willingness to work hard.  He/she will be detail oriented, well organized and able to multitask. 

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time exempt position.  Salary will depend on experience and range from $45,000 - $50,000.  Benefit package includes medical, dental, 403(b), generous vacation and sick leave plan.
