Green Development = Economic Development

10th event of the 2005 Urban Sustainability Forum with: Bert Gregory, President and CEO, Mithun - Dennis Wilde, Sr. Project Manager, Gerding/Edlen Development. Here is an opportunity to hear from two who have worked on a couple cutting-edge projects in Portland. Learn how their experience can be applied in Seattle, and how a green building increases return on investment and strengthens economic development. Their success stories in Portland include: The Brewery Blocks - a five-block redevelopment of the former Blitz-Weinhard Brewery in the historic Pearl District that created a vibrant, post-industrial neighborhood and linked the Central Business District to the River District. The Lloyd District Study - where the city is planning for redevelopment of a 35-block neighborhood, while simultaneously targeting urban redevelopment goals that meet the environmental footprint of a pristine forest -- even as the area's population and built space increase five-fold. This event is free of charge, open to the public, and seating is on a first-come basis. No RSVP is required.
