Uptown Street-Level Survey 2007

Findings of
the March 26th, 2007 street-level survey:
Community members collected assets & opportunities (what they liked and
what they wanted) and deficits & concerns (what they didn't like and what
they thought were problems) along the main commercial district of the Uptown
neighborhood to document the positive and negative aspects of the physical
environment of the area.

Asset Findings:
Table 1:

Table 1 above lists the most frequently
collected positive conditions (assets) organized by feature. For example,
most of the asset or opportunity incidents were identified along the business
with 18 incidents collected. Community members found some of the business
had transparent windows, were local and non-franchise and had outside seating.
The second most collected feature were buildings which were in good condition
and architectural detail. Currently, 98 assets were collected by

Deficit Findings:
Table 2:

Table 2 above lists the most frequently collected negative conditions (deficits) organized by feature. Community members collected the most deficit conditions along the sidewalk with 29 incidents, which includes uneven pavement concerns, litter, and sandwich boards blocking. There were a total of 108 deficits or concerns collected by community members in the Uptown neighborhood on March 26th, 2007.
