UW GIS Students Business District Maps
- Students enrolled in a Geography 463 at the University of Washington created business district maps for two of our partner neighborhoods: Greenwood-Phinney Ridge and Uptown. The course utlizes ArcGIS to produce a series of maps which spatially locate the businesses the students collected data from onto the maps. The general product goal for this project was to create a series of maps for a selected number of neighborhoods which could be used as indicators of business district health and/or sustainability. The students collected data and organized it in a way that would allow a display of information onto a map. The data that was to be collected included: hours of operation, business type (local, chain, etc.), and business mix (retail, restaurants, personal services, etc.).
