Uptown
Uptown, sometimes referred to as "lower Queen Anne" is one of the most urban neighborhoods in the SUNI project. Quite a bit of development has occurred in the last few years, with new condominiums, shops, a large supermarket, and the purchase of land with completed designs for a unique urban park, rapidly changing this once mostly rental community into both rental and now owner-occupied neighborhood.

The Uptown Alliance is leading the SUNI effort and acts as the steward for the Uptown Urban Center neighborhood plan. Uptown is one of Seattle's more pedestrian-oriented neighborhoods and residents have within walking distance many of Seattle's largest attractions: Seattle Center, Seattle Repertory Theatre, McCaw Hall, Intiman Theatre, Key Arena, the Experience Music Project, and the Space Needle. A quick hop on a local bus will take visitors or residents downtown within minutes. One of the challenges for current residents is maintaining the walkability and cleanliness of the neighborhood visited annually by more than 10 million people to Seattle Center venues.
The SUNI project hopes to help residents and businesses in the neighborhood understand how growth is impacting the neighborhood over time and to possibly create actions to maintain the quality of life residents and businesses have long enjoyed.
