Admiral
Until the early 1900s West Seattle was a separate city and was connected to Seattle only via ferry. The Admiral neighborhood, located in West Seattle, boasts a stable and vital commercial center that provides a focal point for the area. Other amenities in the neighborhood include The Hiawatha Community Center, the West Seattle Library, and Schmitz Park – 53 acres of primary forest.

Admiral is a new partner neighborhood to the Sustainable Urban Neighborhoods Initiative (SUNI) project. The Admiral Neighborhood Association (ANA) is comprised of residents, business people, and others who care about the environmental, economic and social sustainability of our Admiral neighborhood. We believe in maintaining the quality of life we have come to enjoy, and exist to serve our neighbors and our community. |
Two main reasons the Admiral group applied to the SUNI project were that it closely aligned with the goals stated in their neighborhood plan, and to reinvigorate the community promoting increased participation in community activities.
