Supporting Action & Change

Document Actions
We work with communities to understand what the indicators are telling us in order to promote positive actions on the ground. These projects can be physical improvements such as graffiti removal during Clean Seattle events or volunteers planting trees in a neighborhood business district, such as the Free the Trees, Save our Roots effort in Greenwood-Phinney Ridge. Or they can involve helping citizens effectively communicate community priorities, such as a presentation made by youth in the Chinatown-International District to the Seattle City Council.

Free the Trees, Save Our Roots

This community effort in Greenwood-Phinney Ridge demonstrates how street-level data can help translate community concerns into action on the ground.  To learn more about how community members, the City of Seattle, and Sustainable Seattle are collaborating to "green" the neighborhood business district click here.

Youth and Elders Present to the Seattle City Council

Youth and elders from International District Housing Alliance's WILD program present findings from their street-level survey at a brown bag discussion hosted by Councilmember Jim Compton. To see a video of the presentation click here.

Neighborhood Grant Opportunities

The City of Seattle, and private companies offer community supported grants to help fund neighborhood improvements.  Although this list is not exhaustive, please click here for information on some of these opportunities.
