Making Connections for a Globally Sustainable Future

A teacher workshop presented by Woodland Park Zoo and Facing the Future: Making Connections for a Globally Sustainable Future Saturday, December 2, 2006 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Most appropriate for grades 5-12 What does your ecological footprint have to do with biodiversity? How are population, consumption and poverty linked to one another? In this session, presented by Facing the Future and Woodland Park Zoo, we’ll connect the dots between critical global issues and explore ways to address these issues with sustainable solutions through an interdisciplinary, EALR-aligned global sustainability curriculum that engages students in hands-on activities and discussion that promote critical thinking. Participants will receive Facing the Future’s newest resource for middle and high school teachers, Engaging Students through Global Issues: Activity-Based Lessons and Action Projects, and Woodland Park Zoo’s recently revised Endangered Species teacher packet. Cost: $10 materials fee. Clock hours (7) available for $2/clock hour. APPLICATION DUE DATE: Friday, November 3, 2006. Advance registration by fax or mail is required for this workshop.
